What to Expect from Your Otter Painting Encounter
- Interactive Painting Session: Engage directly with our Asian Small-Clawed Otters as they create a unique piece of art (also known as an “Ottergraph”!) for you to take home. This activity serves as enrichment for the otters, keeping them stimulated and happy.
- Learn About Conservation Efforts: Discover fascinating details about otter species, the threats they face, and the critical work being done to preserve their habitats.
- Engage in Hands-On Education: From extinct otter species to how pollution impacts waterways, you’ll leave with actionable tips to contribute to conservation.
Additional Information
- Paint Materials: We use 100% non-toxic, child and pet-friendly, water-soluble paint. We recommend wearing old clothes, as our otters enjoy painting people as much as canvases, and you might end up with otter paw prints on your attire!
- Booking Policy: To ensure a comfortable experience for all guests, we manage encounter bookings based on the number of participants in our barn. Please note that only guests with a painting encounter ticket are permitted in the session area. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this policy.

As pioneers in hands-on interactions with Asian Small-Clawed Otters, we were the first in the country to introduce Painting with Otters and are now proud to offer this immersive, educational encounter. Our new facility sets the stage for you to meet these incredible animals up close while learning about their habitats and conservation. This encounter will last approximately an hour and a half.

Native to Southeast Asia, Asian Small-Clawed Otters are the smallest otter species in the world. Known for their playful nature and remarkable dexterity, they use their partially webbed paws to manipulate objects, hunt for food, and play with each other. Unfortunately, these adorable otters face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and illegal wildlife trade. This encounter provides an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, challenges, and the ongoing global efforts to protect them.
